The Svan high chair is an ergonomic high chair designed to contemporary standards by the reputable Scandinavian company Svan of Sweden. With adjustable head rests and foot rests, as well as a plethora of other features, this chair was actually designed to act as a baby high chair as well as somewhere for the child to sit as it grows older.
It has been reputed that the name of the high chair (and hence, the company) came from the Swedish word for swan (svan) and was such named because of the graceful curves of the wood making up the high chair.
Whatever the origins of the name though, one thing remains standard with the Svan high chair – its total versatility. From its use as the traditional high chair for a baby or toddler, incorporating its tray, to removing the tray to allow a young child to sit up at the table with the rest of the family at meal times, to removing the safety guard to turn it into a “conventional” chair whereby the older child can pull it up to the table themselves, to a full-sized chair that can be used be an adult.
One major safety feature of the chair is that all adjustments have to be made with an Allen key (provided). This ensures that a youngster or toddler is unable to “accidently” make any adjustments to height settings or worse still, remove a screw, rendering the product dangerous.
Some of the main features of a Svan high chair include:
• A lifetime of use as the baby grows into a toddler, then to a child, an older child, a teen and then through to adulthood. This can be accomplished by removing or rearranging the tray, the safety guard and the wood panels. The chair has been specifically designed to hold up to 250 pounds of weight.
• It has a removable three-point safety harness which does not inhibit the child from reaching for food or anything like that, but all the while ensuring complete and total safety.
• It is ergonomic with great support for the baby or toddler and the seat height is fully adjustable, as is the foot rest height. It is lightweight, yet very stable.
• There are numerous cushion color designs to choose from.
• The tray is dishwasher friendly, and there is nowhere for food to “hide” in any nooks or crannies. This means there is less risk for germs and bacteria to flourish.
• The Svan high chair is made from environmentally friendly materials. Specifically, sustainable birch wood is used in the manufacturing process, and it can come in finishes including natural, cherry, espresso, mahogany and whitewash.
